• If anyone has an old electric kettle for boiling water that they do not use anymore or is just taking up space, we would love if it could be donated to the science class. It will not be used to drink from so even if it dirty or rusty we can use it! It is worth extra credit.

Important Information:
• Students spent all of last week in the media center completing note cards and source cards their catastrophic event. Students will receive their graded note cards back on Tuesday and then begin the process of creating an outline.
• Upcoming research due dates:
o Monday, February 22: Typed Outline using Power Notes
o Friday, February 26: Typed Draft of Research Paper
• The Chicago Board Options Exchange permission slip and Money is due on Tuesday 3/9. Be sure to get those into me ASAP!
• The 6th Reading Log is due on Tuesday, March 16. Don’t forget signatures!!!

Important Information:
• Students will spend the entire week doing research on their catastrophic event. Although they will have class time students will need to do research at home too.
• Upcoming research due dates:
o Wednesday 2/10: Students need to have at least 15 note cards done.
o Friday 2/11: Collect students final note cards (minimum of 25)
• The 5th Reading Log is due on Friday, February 12. Don’t forget signatures!!!

I am requesting that all students have composition books instead of spirals for the Organisms unit in science class. While observing other science classes the composition books seemed to hold up a lot better.

• There will be a test on Thursday Feb. 11 in science this week on Earthquakes. I will be holding a lunchtime review session on Wednesday Feb. 10th
• Our schedule will be flipped this week so we could access the media center for research. The schedule will be 1st, then 8th and 9th. 2nd and 3rd periods will be held in the afternoon when we normally hold 8th and 9th periods.
